Over the last few days I've noticed an unusual number of people reporting burns, cuts, accidents and minor injuries.
It made me ask a question:
Mars is in Aries, his own sign. Shouldn't he be happy there?
Indeed, Mars is strong in Aries. However, strength does not always mean gentleness.
At present Mars is hemmed between Saturn and the Sun (Papa Kartari Yoga), receives no benefic aspect, and is in trinal relationship with Ketu, a graha that often expresses qualities similar to Mars.
According to the teachings of my lineage, Mars is both the Deha Karaka (significator of the physical body) and the natural Karaka of the 6th house, governing injuries, wounds, disease, conflict and adversity. When strong and unsupported, he may express these qualities with considerable force.
Mars also governs fire, heat, sharp objects, inflammation and Pitta Dosha. As we move deeper into summer in the Northern Hemisphere, Pitta is naturally elevated, adding further fuel to the fire.
Aries corresponds to the head and face in the Kala Purusha, and with Mars occupying his own sign, attention may be drawn to the physical body through cuts, burns, headaches, inflammation, impulsive actions and accidents.
Until approximately 15 June, when the Sun moves into Gemini, it may be wise to:
- Exercise caution around sharp tools and machinery
- Be mindful around fire and heat
- Avoid unnecessary risks and impulsive decisions
- Take measures to pacify excess Pitta
- Slow down and think before acting
This may be particularly noticeable for Aries and Scorpio Lagnas, as Mars is their Lagna Lord.
Mars is not weak right now. He is strong. But strength under pressure is rarely gentle.
Even in his own kingdom, Mars must answer to Kāla.
When fire is compressed, it does not disappear — it intensifies.
Stay cool and take care.
